Holiday!!

Today has been a good day.  I slept later than I usually do, which was 7:30.  I have a  few days off work, so I have that luxury.  I have a few things on my list to do this week, and made a good dent in them.  I went to the grocery store, and  got a few items.  Went to the feed and seed, and got bird seed, as the birds eat like  PIGS!!  But we enjoy watching them none the less.  Picked a lot of veggies from the garden.  We froze a gallon size bag of peppers.  I  made roasted vegetables  for supper, and chocolate pudding!  One of the peppers I  put in the roasted veggies burned in my mouth!!  I am not sure what type it was, but it was one of the hottest peppers I have eaten!  I roasted a bulb of garlic also for later use.  I steamed some beets for Dan, as he likes them.  I think they taste like the earth.  I did try a small  bite of them.
These pictures were taken at Silas's birthday time.  He is playing his new snare drum, and the other pic is  Daniel, and Si in our woods on a big tree that has fallen and is fun to walk on.
The next picture is of a really cool fungus of some kind that I came across while I was walking  back in the woods.  The black raspberries are as tasty as they look!  The last picture was just after a rain, and a big  rainbow was out.  The next  picture is me picking out in the garden  Notice the mosquito net on my hat.  A  necessity!!
The vegetables in the sink are a few that I gathered.  They look pretty good don't they?  The plate of  food is  what  I made with the vegetables.  We are really enjoying it all.
This is what Dan has been working on for the last few weeks at granny and papa's.  It is going to be quite nice when it is done.  We spent the afternoon there Sunday, as Trevin is in town with his family for the week,  and there was a get together so that we all could all see them, and they could see us!  We had a good time.

This is obviously me on the trail.  I am fortunate to have such a good place to walk and get fresh air!
I hope that all of your summers are going well, and you are able to get outside and enjoy!

Bloggeroo

This has been a good summer.  It is July already.  It is still somewhat light outside at 9PM.  We have had very nice summer weather here.
Our summer has been uneventful.  We like it that way.
We went to a  friends wedding last weekend that was outdoors.  It was a very nice wedding, and the first outdoor wedding I have been  to.
I have picked many black raspberries already.  I have picked  about 10-12 quarts.  I froze most of them, and ate quite a few too.  I cover myself  from head  to toe when I go out to pick, covered to protect myself from mosquitoes, and plants with sharp prickers on them.  I wear a mosquito net over my head, which keeps the mosquitoes off my face, and I do not have to put repellent on my face.
I have  planted flowers in all our pots, and arranged them on the farm.  Dad has  planted a garden, and I have done a little planting, and much weeding.  There is more weeding to do, but it is too hot!  (I know how Stewie feels).    ;)
I will explain the pictures:
That is me in my garden hat.  It gets hot in the sun, and the air circulates in that hat.  The chin strap also is helpful, as it gets quite windy where we live!!
The picture of Dad, is on a Sunday as Daniel, Si, Dan and I went  back in the woods to the fire pit area, on the gator.  Silas wanted to have a picnic, so we did.  What we ate for our picnic was:  Homemade  whole wheat  bread, with homemade strawberry jam on.  Then we shared a large bar of  good dark chocolate and ate that with sectioned oranges.
The flowers are on the steps that go to the old white dairy  barn.  The flowers are finally starting the bloom nicely!
The garden picture is obviously the garden, and that was a couple weeks ago.
The peas, I shelled on Saturday.  I enjoy them  raw, and Dan prefers them cooked.
Daniel and Silas, at the kitchen table, was taken on the day of Silas's 6th birthday party.  We made him a cake, and gave him a snare drum.  He had a  nice time, and so did we.
I found the dark clouds quite interesting during this particular storm.  There were a  few tornadoes formed during this storm, but none that we saw.

We had a some friends over Sunday afternoon for a 4th of July picnic.  They have two children, 6 and 8.  We had a good day, and enjoyed the weather.  The kids enjoyed the gator rides of course.

The firefly's are out now.  I wish I could catch that on a picture.
