You'll simplify your life and feel inspired if you learn to play, rather than work, your way through life

We woke up today expecting a moderate snowfall, and it missed us!  So actually we were happy, because it is a work day, and I would have had to drive in it, and Dan would get up and clear the drive.  He did clear the drive, as we had a small amount of snow, but my drive to work was clear!  I listened to my library book on the way to and from work, with Dr. Christiane Northrup.  I am enjoying her books quite a bit.  I just read a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer called Your Ultimate Calling.  That was a good book, and quick read.  I would like to purchase that book.  Dan had a great supper ready for me when I got home tonight, as he usually does.  We had riced potatoes, and "chicken type" loaf with gravy, green beans, some bean salad.  Dan had a sweet potato, I do not care for these, and he had cranberry sauce.  All in all, very tasty.  Now I am about to put a loaf of bread in the oven.  Now it is in the oven, so 40 minutes to cook, and then cool!  Sounds like such a long time!  We will have some for breakfast, and lunch.  The picture is of the weekend as I was going for a walk, and the snowflakes were so big, I had to take a picture.  We seem to have had a lot of snow this winter, and we are above the annual average of snow fall for the year already.  I took a picture of some of my very favorite books.  Some are from the library, and I would like to own them all.  I cannot say they are my favorite, as who can pick favorites when there are so many books to choose from.  My favorites would change often.  These are some that I really enjoy right now.    Now go read a book!

Thoughts themselves are an energy

I have been making and eating quite a bit of granola.  It is pretty darn tasty, and i eat it every day for breakfast.  I put home made yogurt on top of it, and it is a breakfast, that stays with me all morning.   Dan likes it too.  We were lucky to have Amy come by on Friday, and pick up a batch for her week.  I have been changing the recipe a little, and experimenting with amounts of this and that.  I prefer it with small clusters, not too big.  I also prefer it without dried fruit in it, but you could of course add raisins if you desire.  I also made some texas caviar.  This is a bean/pepper salad, with a few other crispy vegetables in a vinegar/oil dressing.  We brought a jar to Amy/Ana too.  You can vary the type of peppers you put in it, and the veggies.  I like to crumble feta cheese on top of mine!  I have been doing pretty good since my birthday on February 1st, of not eating a lot of white flour products  or sugar.  I still plan to eat chocolate, but will try to eat more dark than milk.  My reason for this is to be healthier, and to have more energy.  Currently I have a loaf of artisan bread that will go into the oven as soon as it is pre heated!  Dan and I are excited to eat this with jam!   Good times!

bibbity bobbity poo

Hello all,
This is sort of a random blog, with no real direction.  The picture of the of the picture, is a picture that my friend Sheril did for me.  I have it in your frame for now Molly.  Until you are able to take the frame.  Thanks for the loan!  The Wrestling picture i especially like, because it is an action shot.  Silas loves to wrestle.  The other picture made me think of someone......
I will tell you about my day.  I got up this morning, and made yogurt.  Then I started bread.  I made Rye bread, and the dough is a very stiff dough, so I was a little nervous that it would not rise enough.  It did just fine, and is presently cooling on the counter.  I will bring the bread to Amy and Ana's  when we go there on Saturday.  Then I went for a walk as it was a nice sunny day.  Quite cold, but walking briskly warmed me up in no time.  Then I had 30 minutes to get ready to leave for going for the day with grandma Bakken.  I am pretty quick at getting ready, and even had time to spare.   We went to Oconomowoc and each had an hour massage from Deb!!  That was my birthday gift, and it was quite enjoyable.  Then we went to breugers, and shared a bagel sandwich, and each had a coffee.  Then we went to the outlet mall, and went to the children's place, and grandma got Silas three outfits for under 20$ for everything.  How nice of her.
Oh, we also went to Aldi, and got a bit of produce.  We also went to brownberry and got some bread, and plastic bags.  I dropped grandma off, and she gave me some odds and ends from her house.  Everything was quite useful.  So, I got home, and made Texas Caviar, of which was made with ingredients from Aldi.  It has beans, peppers, onions, and celery, and vinigar/oil dressing.  So, it has been a good day, and I am going to bed soon.  Enjoy your day too!

Fireside Fun

Thursday my Mom and Dad and sister Jennie went to the fireside show "50's and 60's".  It was a musical show, consisting of popular songs of that era.  I do enjoy most any kind of music, and especially enjoy that music.  They had really good singers, and great costumes.  We ate from the buffet line, which is their Thursday special.  It had many kinds of meat, of which I do not partake of, being a vegetarian.  I did enjoy the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables.  They always have a delicious salad, and there was also stawberry shortcake for dessert!  It was a lot of fun, and we had a good evening!

Doing nothing yet leaving nothing undone

Saturday I went for a walk in the morning.  The sun was out, and it was a beautiful day.  I was chewing a piece of gum, and thinking, as I put it in the baggy in my pocket, what happens to this piece of gum when I throw it away.  How big would the piece of gum be every day, of all of the gum people chew. All of that needs to decompose on the earth.  How about all of the plastic products that we use.  Like the baggy that I put my gum in, in my pocket, thinking I am being responsible by bringing a baggy, and not throwing it on the ground.  It is all going to be somewhere decomposing on the earth eventually, so why do I need a baggy to throw it in.  Then I thought of all of the plastic storage items we use, and how could we/I make more responsible choices.  Then I got to thinking of the products I use, with my hygiene, like soap, hair care, make up, cleaning items, etc...  Perhaps I should use more natural products.  Things that break down without harming the environment, and  use responsible packaging.  This walk lasted over 2 hours, because I was in deep thought, and having a nice time too.  I took a lot of pictures.  The sun was shining.  It was cold out, but I was warm.  Dan was waiting back at home for me, as we were going to the Red Robin for my "free" birthday burger, and we had also gotten a gift certificate for Christmas to use.  He was a little concerned   because I was taking so long. I got back to the house around 12:15, and I showered, and dressed and was ready to go by 12:35.  I am fast!!  We split a burger, and had onion rings.  It was a good day.  Then we watched 2 movies.  "Driving Miss Daisy", and "21".  We enjoyed them both.
